If Article 18 is defeated, this authorizes the governing body to call one special meeting, at its option, to address Article 18 cost items only. Majority vote required.

If Article 18 is defeated, this authorizes the governing body to call one special meeting, at its option, to address Article 18 cost items only.
AMHERST WAYS AND MEANS COMMITTEE COMMENTS
If Article 18 should fail, this ballot question would authorize the board to call a special meeting to re-address cost items in Article 18. Ways and Means supports this measure by a 6-1 margin. This would allow the board to come up with a revised salary proposal with AEA to cover the next year while attempts at another long-term proposal to appear on the ballot in March 2027. This is a required article of the warrant. The no vote on the committee was cast due to skepticism of hosting another potential election, resulting in a potentially smaller voter turnout and increased costs for another voting day.
